Quantity Surveyor - German speaking

THE ROLE

I am seeking a Quantity Surveyor in the Building Construction industry who speaks both English and German to join my client in Germany. You could be based in any German location but travel will be required to sites, to client offices, meetings etc. across Germany.

German at business level is required and good English.

You are likely to have a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or other construction / built environment subject with at least seven years or more quantity surveying experience.

You will do both pre contract and post contract work so a background in private practice quantity surveying or client side is preferred.

Initially you will work on hotel projects, some new build extensions, upgrades, fit outs etc. followed by other projects.

Good experience in cost management for construction projects is essential and experience in the use of the German contract VOB is required.

My client is a successful international firm of construction consultants providing both cost management and project management services in Germany and in the UK.

They provide both cost management and project management services.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager, with fluent English and German at business level.

You will need to have a Degree or Diploma in a Construction / Built environment subject and have good experience of quantity surveying and cost management experience ideally with both pre and post contract experience.

You may also be MRICS or similarly qualified.

You should have experience of cost control and cost management of projects from inception to delivery.

You will need experience of feasibility studies and preparation of procurement reports.

Experience of cost estimates and cost planning.

Experience of tender documents and control of the pre-selection and evaluation of tenders.

Experience of cost deviations.

Experience of value engineering and value management.

Good communication skills essential to deal with the client, contractors and professional team.

Previous experience of working as a QS in Germany is required so that you are fully familiar with the VOB.
