The Job

You'll be an experienced Rail Programme Delivery Manager keen to take your next career step, taking responsibility for the rail direction of our Construction Division, ensuring excellence in technical delivery, liaising with a variety of key stakeholders, and providing the main point of contact for rail.

As a Programme Delivery Manager with a career focused in the civil construction and rail infrastructure sectors, your role will be to provide effective governance, oversight and strategic guidance across project lifecycles from inception, feasibility, design and procurement through to operational delivery, ensuring we achieve and exceed all targets and project objectives. Operating as a bridge between upper management and the teams tasked with operational delivery, you'll have a strong affinity for people because of your ability to relate well to everyone. Our primary interface with senior stakeholders, your ability to create and maintain high level strategic relationships internally and externally will be part of your success in this role.

What you'll be doing

A qualified engineer with at least 15+ years post graduate experience, you will offer a depth of expertise and proven strategic ability in a range of project delivery, including collaborative models such as Early Contractor Involvement, New Engineering Contract (NEC) and Alliance Contracts. Strong leadership skills allow you to gather a highly motivated team around you, empowering others through effective delegation and support, while driving a positive safety culture. You have an innate sense of commercial acumen, demonstrated by your prior success of finishing projects on time and within budget. Finally, your ability to identify and manage both risk and opportunities will be something you pride yourself on.

What we need from you

Extensive, proven experience and knowledge of civil engineering rail infrastructure projects, including both Heavy and Light Rail in various environments, including urban rail

Ability to provide technical leadership through the design, construction, commissioning and operational phases of the life cycle across a wide range of rail projects

Proven in-depth knowledge of procurement processes and commercial awareness of various Forms of Contract

Contractor experience, including Construct only and Design and Construct projects

Knowledge and experience using digital technologies and the successful application of these on projects
