As the sole agency supplier for the HM Prison Service for the provision of security and support operatives. Our client is seeking to recruit an additional Operational Support Grades (OSGs) for HMP Bristol. This prison is based in the outskirts of the city centre.
Your new role
You will be working as part of the operational team within the prison site, Bristol. Duties included with this role are:
- Checking in visitors
- Supervision of visitors
- Patrolling perimeter and grounds
- Escorting contractors and vehicles
- Supervising small selected prison work parties
- Searching buildings
- Searching prisoners property
- Stores duties
- Routine administrative work
- Night patrol duties
- Canteen and kit exchange duties
- Emergency Control Room (ECR) and Communications room
- Rub down searches of prisoners
The job role as the security officer to work Monday-Sunday on a shift rotation pattern, which would be to work every other weekend, and 1 week of nights once every 6 weeks followed by a rest week. This is a full time position on a long term temporary basis with the opportunity to apply for a permanent role within the prison service. The rates of pay range from £9.20-£13.81 per hour (depending of the shift) and are inclusive of holiday, which will increase to a flat rate of £11.11 (premium) per hour for all working hours on completion of your 12-week probationary period.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you should have a security/military experience however, this is not essential as there is full training provided.
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate and Photo Driving License in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory referees, at least one from an ex-employer.
