This is an exciting time to join the DIO Navy and DE&S team as a Quantity Surveyor within the DIO Major Programmes & Projects (MPP) team, delivering on multi-million-pound capital construction projects and programmes, critical to Defence Operations for the Army, Air, Navy and UK Strategic Command.

As a Quantity Surveyor in DIO, you will undertake a variety of estimating, reporting, cost modelling, benchmarking, and value for money studies for the delivery of Capital Projects. The MoD estate consists of a vast range of buildings and infrastructure including jetty and berthing projects, marine works, living accommodation and messes, technical facilities, training facilities and more.

DIO DCT (Delivery Continuity Team) manages the delivery of several programmes and projects to deliver Estate related services. These programmes and projects cover UK and overseas requirements and are generally Category A (multi-million pound). The DCT Programmes and Projects are at a range of stages from timescales already set & Outline Business Case development underway, with others yet to begin and teams still to be formed Are you an ambitious Quantity Surveyor considering a new challenge?

Job description

You could be part of a team who deliver key contracts and relationship management in support of UK Military Capability. The Quantity Surveying team undertake a variety of tasks for the Project and Programme teams and are required to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Cost Estimating

  • Provide support in the development and provision of Should Cost Estimates to support affordability, tender analysis, evaluation of contractors’ proposals and negotiation and agreement of the contract sum for Hard and Soft Facilities Management (FM) and Capital Projects.
  • Cost Data and Value for Money Benchmarking
  • Provide support in the development of Value for Money Benchmarking strategies.
  • Analyse and validate cost data for cost planning, benchmarking, whole life costing, life-cycle replacement, minor and major capital works
  • Provide support in the development and provision of Pricing Strategies and documents
  • Develop, provide and maintain coherent contract documentation for Projects
  • Pricing and evaluation of variations on projects in accordance with NEC3 and NEC4 and other relevant commercial approaches
