An excellent long term opportunity has become available working at HMP Garth, based in Leyland. HMP Garth is a Category C prison, holding around 1000 inmates at a time.
Your new role
This is a highly varied role with many facets; In one capacity, you may be responsible for escorting contractors around the premises, ensuring that work is completed within the official prison guidelines. In this role, you will be working in and out the prisons, in all weather conditions.
Alternatively, in another capacity, you may be responsible for another element of the OSG position, where you will be responsible for providing assistance on the gatehouse, responsible for visitor management and ensuring prisoners are where they are supposed to be, this would be a shift role possibly including nights. You may also be deployed in the visitor centre, overseeing visitor hours. This working week for this vacancy will vary as there is shift, nights and weekends involved, pay rates will comply along with this.
What you'll need to succeed
You must be able to pass an enhanced vetting procedure to qualify for this position. Experience within the security or escorting industry is considered highly advantageous but not essential. You will demonstrate a flexible working approach, demonstrate a positive 'can do' attitude and be able to work effectively as part of a team, and also individually Security Clearance
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks, this can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer. What you'll get in return
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work shifts, nights and weekends. The hourly rate prior to the 12 week Agency Worker Regulations coming into effect for this role will vary due to the shift worked. Shifts/standard: £8.78 per hour, premium
Saturday: £10.97 per hour, premium
Sunday/Bank holiday: £11.67 per hour, premium
Nights: £13.16 per hour, premium Post Agency Worker Regulations: Shifts: £11.11 per hour, Premium
Weekday Overtime: £19.53 per hour, Premium
Weekend/Bank Holiday: £24.12 per hour, Premium
