Director of Operations

Reports to,

Need to have

  • Relevant business administration and/or technical degree or equivalent

  • Experience in strategic financial planning and execution

  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management

  • Experience in formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

  • Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources with ability to analyse and interpret financial data

  • Strong leadership experience in a telecoms project management environment an advantage

  • Proven people skills in developing high performance teams

  • Experience in customer interfacing role at senior management/board level

  • Strong SHEQ focus

Need to do

Define and maintain standards for the project management team using Project Management Institute (PMI) guidelines, SHEQ Quality Standards and company requirements to implement projects in a manner that meets financial expectations established at project start and to completion

  • Engage with the project managers to ensure the cost effective and dynamic resourcing of projects 

  • Manage the prioritisation of projects in order to establish project management staffing levels, training and tools across all KTL UK contracts that will allow the project teams to achieve the company’s objectives and successfully manage the peaks and troughs of the business  

  • Creates immediate to long-range plans to develop and drive efficiency and cost focused initiatives

  • Develop and continuously improve planning and cost analysis management systems

  • Identify and drive implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to support and improve projects delivery

  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve agreed objectives

  • Driving quality achievement and performance improvement through the organisation SHEQ Process

  • Establish, maintain and develop company culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers and regulatory, official bodies

  • Report to shareholders/board of directors on business plans and business performance

  • Execute the responsibilities of a company director according to lawful and ethical standards.

  • Any other duties as assigned

  • Work within the standard existing processes of the KTL ERP and IT solutions used by projects, driving a consistent and efficient use of the tools

  • Demonstrates high level of commercial awareness and ability to translate into tangible outputs

  • Provides direction and guidance to project/operational managers across all projects
