BIM Modeller/Design Coordinator – RC Frame/Groundwork’s – NW London - £40k

About the Client: The Company we represent has been an established name in industry now for over 30yrs, currently turnover £120m and are a privately owned specialist sub contractor with expertise in groundwork’s & RC Frames projects to the value of £15m. They operate mainly in South East of England, predominantly London based, and have become well known as being one of the most professional and technically strong sub contractors in the UK, with good safety regulations in place,

About the Role: This is a new role. Aim is to develop the following within the business. The below is in the logical order we thought each would be tackled:-

  1. Create 3D Tender Presentation Models – Mainly RC Frames
  2. We are purchasing Tekla Structures & SketchUp Pro 2016
  3. For the Groundworks we have viewed Trimble Business Centre Advanced (sister to Tekla Structures) but also Bentley PowerCivil. We thought we would wait for our Modeller to join us to review both again before deciding upon the preferred choice.
  4. Note we do not design ourselves so the role would be to import in models already produced by the clients design team, or build a model from 2D drawings already produced by the clients design team
  1. Develop Models to a level where suitable Bills of Quantities can be created (5D)
  2. These would most likely be exported into Excel for the estimators to then pick up
  1. Develop with selected sites how the model could potentially be used to aid setting out / construction on site
  1. Develop with selected sites ‘As-Built’ models (6D)
  1. Develop with selected sites how it can be utilised for Construction Planning & Management / Schedule Visualisation (4D Time)
  1. Review with Quantity Surveyors its ability to assist in evaluating works complete for Payment purposes.
  1. Review with Quantity Surveyors its ability to highlight changes between drawing revisions as the construction process takes place with a view to valuing the changes.
